Five Major Applications of Magnetic Sensors

Magnetic sensors are devices that convert various magnetic fields and their changes into electrical signals. We can manually set up permanent magnets and use their generated magnetic field as a carrier of various information, allowing magnetic sensors to perform tasks such as detection, storage, conversion, reproduction, and monitoring of various magnetic fields and information within them. In today's information society, magnetic field sensors have become an indispensable cornerstone component of information technology and the information industry. Currently, people have developed magnetic sensors that utilize various physical, chemical, and biological effects, and magnetic sensor applications are in a wide range, such as in scientific research, production, and all aspects of social life.

Applications of magnetic sensors in the automotive industry

The application of a magnetic vehicle sensor mainly involves the detection of parameters such as speed, tilt angle, angle, distance, proximity, position, as well as navigation, location and other aspects. In energy-saving and consumption reduction, especially in the case of reducing carbon emissions or other pollutants, motors will become a top priority. The motor will shift from a pulley system with frictional force that "never stops" to an electronic motor that can be controlled as needed. Moreover, the electronic motor will shift to a more efficient and reliable brushed DC motor, and the role of magnetic sensors will be reflected in making the motor control or reversal more precise.

Applications of magnetic sensors in industry

In industrial applications, magnetic sensors can be used for uninterrupted power supply of computer servers and welding systems. In applications with high current such as large variable frequency motors, open and closed-loop Hall sensors can use Hall-effect ICs in a small package, or include a dedicated integrated circuit in the package to improve integration. Hall ICs are also suitable for industrial inverter control applications. In addition to current sensors, independent Hall effect ICs or magnetic resistance sensor switches can also be used to lower ripple and improve performance in motor rectification, or for position measurement and other applications.

Applications of magnetic sensors in medicine

The application of magnetic sensors in the medical field, although smaller in scale than in the industrial field, can assist patients in many situations, such as ambulance services, hospital and home care. Either during surgery, in intensive care units, or in ordinary home care, effective ways can be provided to control movement, airflow, detect blood pressure and save lives, or improve the quality of life. However, the use of magnetic sensors in medical equipment for reversing the motor control, such as ventilators, infusion pumps, insulin, and kidney dialysis machines.

Applications of magnetic sensors in the consumer electronics industry

The application of a digital magnetic sensor in consumer electronics is also very extensive. For example, it can be used in mobile phones, laptops, electronic compasses and other aspects. The application of MEMS sensors and magnetic sensors in electronic compasses promotes each other, which can make navigation products more accurate, and this will become a highlight in the navigation market. If gyroscopes, accelerometers and magnetic sensors are integrated together, and these three sensors assist each other in functionality, they constitute a more powerful inertial navigation product.

Applications of magnetic sensors in aerospace and military industry

High-sensitivity and low-field sensors are very important materials in aviation, aerospace, and satellite communication technology. With the development of absorbing technology in the military industry, military objects can cover up by adding a layer of absorbing material, but in any case, these objects will generate a magnetic field, so they can be found by magnetic field sensors. Magnetic sensors are used on satellites to detect objects on the surface of the earth and the distribution of underground mineral deposits. Electronic compasses are mainly used in high-performance navigation equipment for weapons/missiles, navigation and aviation.
